Censorship is the enemy of truth, even more than a lie.
A lie can be exposed;
censorship can prevent us from knowing the difference.
This week we ask you to pay special attention to your freedom.
We want you to relish in the fact that you can come to the library to find out all kinds of interesting, exciting, and sometimes controversial new things.
How can you make a difference? It's as easy as...
1. READ! Read everything! Read anything! It doesn't matter if you are reading a magazine, a blog, a book (paper, Kindle, or Nook), or whatever. Just read.
2. Get informed! The Office of Intellectual Freedom, a branch of the American Library Association, is a great place to start!
3. Get involved! Speak up, speak out! Be a part of the Freedom to Read Foundation.
Find out about all the interesting things going on in the world of libraries--your world!
