You already know about our amazing Gale resources, and earlier this year we added a couple of ABC-CLIO databases about issues, pop culture, and genocide.
Now, we've added Financial Literacies and PowerSpeak Languages to our line up of AWESOME information.

The Media Literacy Series: Social Media presentation on Tuesday went really well. We had three informed and engaged student panelists and a great discussion surrounding the ways to use, the issues of, and the literacies necessary for social media in today's world. Look for the program on Trojan TV Local Cable Channel 5! You can also check out a copy of the presentation on DVD from the library! Our next topic for the Media Literacy Series is Privacy. It will be held in March. Check back often for more information.
The DaVinci Code was great! The first in the series for Books to Film was a success with 10 people in the audience. We had a great discussion of the differences in the details of the book compared to the film, characterization and how that translated to the film, and plot development.
The next in the series will be Sherlock Holmes! Look for that coming in late February! Check back often for specific times.
Eighteen people came on Friday, November 30th to our discussion about women in literature and to watch The Princess Bride. We had fresh, hot popcorn and homemade cupcakes as well as a great discussion about archetypes in literature and how they relate to women in society throughout history. Our next Friday Film Festival Evening will be in January! Check back for more information!
